Zendaya has officially made history again by winning another Emmy! The Dune star recently bagged another Emmy in her kitty for the Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her brilliant performance in Euphoria.
In the history of Emmys, Zendaya has become the youngest two-time Emmy winner. Not only this, but she is also the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series twice.
Zendaya created history with her second win for the show ‘Euphoria’
Zendaya just made history again by winning the Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Euphoria. This win marks her second Emmy win in the same category. She received an Emmy Award for Euphoria in the year 2020.
With this latest honor, the 26-year-old has been able to set a new record at the Emmys 2022. She has now become the first Black woman to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series twice and the youngest two-time Emmy winner in the acting category.
This year, Zendaya beat fellow contenders Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), and Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show).
Zendaya’s Emmy-winning speech was beautiful
In her award-winning speech, Zendaya said, “Thank you to the Academy, thank you to my friends and family, some of which are here tonight. Thank you to Sam [Levinson] for sharing Rue with me. Thank you for believing in me, even in moments where I didn’t believe in myself.”
The Greatest Showman actress also stated that through the show, her main aim has been to help people heal. She further added, “My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.”
She went on to say, “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue, or feels like a Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”
Zendaya plays the role of Rue Bennett in ‘Euphoria’
Yes, you read that right. Zendaya essays the role of Rue Bennett in Sam Levinson’s teen drama series Euphoria. In the past, she has received loads of love and appreciation from the side of viewers as well as critics for her performance in the second season of the show.
Along with Zendaya, the show Euphoria also stars Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Angus Cloud as Fezco “Fez” O’Neill, Jacob Elordi as Nathaniel “Nate” Jacobs, Alexa Demie as Madeline “Maddy” Perez, Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard and many more.
