Kim Kardashian Launches Spotify-Exclusive True-Crime Podcast “The System”

Kim Kardashian is taking “criminal justice reform” to another level. The “SKIMS” founder has debuted with a podcast, “The System”, the first two episodes are exclusively available on Spotify. The podcast focuses on criminal justice reform, something Kim has been working on for a very long time.

Kim’s Podcast For A Worldwide Audience…

Kim Kardashian, who managed to pass her California baby bar exam in December 2021, after three failed attempts, has debuted with a podcast, based on “Criminal Justice Reform. Titled, Kim Kardashian’s The System: The Case of Kevin Keith, the first two episodes of this podcast are available exclusively on Spotify for a worldwide audience.

Kim Kardashian, who is an active advocate of “prison reforms”, narrates this podcast alongside true crime producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi, a leading expert on prison reforms. In the first episode of this true-crime podcast, Kim states in an interview with Keith: “I’m really hopeful for this podcast, just to get your story out there because I think it’s so important for people to understand that… our system is so f***ed up.”

For this true-crime podcast, the “SKIMS” founder and Spotify partnered with two justice organisations: Colour of Change, a renowned racial justice organization in the United States, and Calling Crows, which encourages music fans to support justice and equality-based movements.

Well, Kardashian is not new to this subject. In 2018, she advocated for Alice Marie Johnson, who was given life imprisonment for drug trafficking. Kim filed a clemency petition to the then-US president, Donald Trump. As a result, Trump commuted her sentence and Johnson was released.

Who Is Kevin Keith?

Kim Kardashian’s debut podcast, Kim Kardashian’s The System: The Case of Kevin Keith, revolves around Keith, an Ohio-based man who was convicted of a triple homicide. For nearly three decades, Kevin Keith has been trying to prove that he was wrongly accused of the crime.

After getting arrested and charged with three murders in Feb. 1994, despite a lack of evidence, Kevin was sentenced to death. However, Ohio governor Ted Strictland commuted his death sentence in 2010, but he has spent nearly 28 years in prison, serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Kim’s Contribution To ‘Prison Reforms’

Apart from working on the clemency petition for Alice Johnson, Kim Kardashian was instrumental in persuading Trump to support the First Step Act, which brought major reforms to the US prison system. She worked alongside Van Jones and Jared Kushner, who believed that without her, the act could have never been passed.

In 2019, she funded the “90 Days To Freedom Campaign”, in an effort to release nonviolent drug offenders from life sentences. This resulted in 17 offenders being released under the provision of the aforementioned act.

In April 2022, she also advocated for the clemency of Melissa Lucio, the only woman of Hispanic descent on Texa’s death row. By the way, Melissa was convicted of capital murder after the death of her two-year-old daughter, Maria. Recently, she voiced her support for rapper, Gunna, who is imprisoned under the provisions of the RICO Act.
