Sadly, Anita Pointer, best known as a founding member of the vocal group the Pointer Sisters has died. The acclaimed singer passed at the age of 74 on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at her home in the presence of her family.
As per a report by Variety, the We Are The World singer’s publicist confirmed the news of her death. Anita and David tied the knot in the year 1965 when she was only 17 years old. They said their vows in December 1965. The pair pulled the plug on their marriage in 1966.
The former pair’s daughter Jada was born on April 9, 1966. Anita’s daughter Jada was the inspiration behind the Pointer Sisters’ song Jada which saw the light of day in the year 1973. Jada left for the heavenly abode in 2003. She passed at the age of 37 after a battle with cancer.
According to a report by Genius Celebs, the All I Know Is the Way I Feel singer later moved on in her life with Richard Gonzalez. The couple got married in October 1981. Just like her previous marriage, this one was also not meant to last forever. The pair couldn’t make their marriage work and ended up getting divorced.

Her family members issued a statement to Variety that read, “While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter, Jada, and her sisters June and Bonnie, and at peace.”
It further read, “She was the one that kept all of us close and together for so long. Her love of our family will live on in each of us. Please respect our privacy during this period of grief and loss. Heaven is a more loving, beautiful place with Anita there.”
Anita’s sisters June and Bonnie preceded her in death, with June passing away in 2006 and Bonnie dying in 2020. Pointer is survived by her granddaughter (Jada’s only child), Roxie, as well as her sister, Ruth, and brothers Aaron and Fritz.
