Scream, one of the most successful slasher film franchises, is returning with its sixth installment in theaters. Scream VI acts as a direct sequel to Scream (2022) and features survivors of the Ghostface killings moving to New York City to escape the serial killer.
For the first time, the premise of the Scream film is set in the Big Apple instead of the fictional town of Woodsboro. Audiences are now wondering where was the slasher horror film actually shot. Read on to find out.
Scream VI Filming Locations
Scream VI, made on a budget of $35 million, was primarily shot in Quebec, Canada. While the story is set in New York, the production and filming did not actually take place there. Real locations in the city of Montreal stood in for NYC in the film. The filming began in June 2022 and wrapped up by August of the same year. Here are all the locations where Scream VI was shot:
Montreal, Quebec, Canada
The filming of Scream VI took place entirely in Montreal, Quebec. The cast and crew were seen filming some prominent scenes in Sherbrooke Street in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood. Some storefronts in the area were transformed, and their names changed to look like those in New York City.
The Flower Pot at 5704 Sherbrooke Street West was made to stand in for Jill’s Flower Shop, Lili’s Sweet was constructed from Sandrini Confections at 5707 Sherbrooke Street West, and a store was transformed into The Danvers Beauty Salon.
The Rue Sherbrooke O was named 4th street, and Avenue Wilson was turned into 44th Street in NYC. Similarly, a local shop was made into Abe’s Snake Bodega, a store into Hank’s Steady Hands, and another into the antique shop End of the Story. The 45 Street Station on the R Broadway Local transit in the NYC subway was shown by creating a fake entrance.
The sequences set in the fictional Blackmore University in NYC were filmed around McGill University, situated at 845 Sherbrooke Street West in Montreal. Sign boards and labels around the area were changed to give the feel of New York. The Burnside building in the university was turned into a public transit hub.

The cast was also seen filming some scenes at the Le National at 1220 St. Catherine Street East. Montreal is the most populous city in Quebec and the second most populous city in Canada. It is an important center for trade, art, culture, commerce, tourism, and films and is the location of the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
A number of hit films were shot in Montreal before Scream VI, including John Wick: Chapter 2, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, The Notebook, Orphan, Catch Me If You Can, The Day After Tomorrow, Batman & Robin, X-Men: Days of Future Past, White House Down and Life of Pi.
The city has also served as a filming location for several television shows, including Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Recruit, Three Pines, The Bold Type, Future Man, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Plan B, The Night Logan Woke Up and Bad Blood.
