Not long ago, the American actor John Amos was taken to a hospital following what his daughter Shannon Amos has claimed is elder abuse. However, the 83-year-old has denied the claims made by his daughter and told the media outlet that she is lying.
John’s daughter Shannon has disclosed that he was admitted on May 14. She has also stated that she was able to talk to him briefly via FaceTime when she heard the news, but since then, he has had difficulties in speaking because his pain has become worse.
As per Shannon, John allegedly suffered “elder abuse and financial exploitation.” As of this moment, she hasn’t exactly revealed what happened to her famous dad. She alleged that a “caregiver” is responsible for the alleged abuse.
She went on to say, “His home had been violated, stripped of anything valuable.” She also told the media outlet that the family is currently working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the police authorities to get justice.
In an updated story, TMZ also disclosed that the outlet got a chance to have a conversation with John Amos, “who tells us the details laid out by his daughter Shannon Amos are a lie…no one is abusing him and he hasn’t been fighting for his life.”
On the other hand, John’s representative Belinda Foster spilled the beans on his hospitalization and stated that he’s been in the hospital “because his lower body was filling with fluid, all the way to his abdomen, and causing issues with his heart.” Foster also added that the doctors have drained the fluid “and John’s recently started to feel 100 percent.”
Shannon Amos has set up a GoFundMe page for her dad John
Shannon has made a GoFundMe page to raise money for her father John. The page reads, “To catch and prosecute the alleged perpetrators, we now require legal assistance, hoping they face the full weight of the law.”
It further reads, “Meanwhile, our priority remains my father’s medical needs and providing him a safe haven. His home had been violated, stripped of anything valuable. The cruelty inflicted upon my dad leaves me questioning what kind of human could commit such acts.”
The goal of the page is $500,000. As per Complex, up until now, $6,372 have been donated by 125 donors. Shannon said that there is a “daunting road to recovery ahead” after her father’s hospitalization, “unstable housing situation,” and unspecified health challenges.
She concluded, “Together, as John’s family and closest friends, let us help him overcome this traumatic experience, restore peace and security, and send a powerful message against elder abuse.”
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor has mentioned that he was unaware why his daughter Shannon would make a GoFundMe page for him. Soon after, she took to her Instagram Story and wrote, “I will only stand in the truth.”

In 1958, Amos graduated from East Orange High School. Soon after, he attended Long Beach City College. Later on, he enrolled at Colorado State University and graduated with a degree in sociology. During his college days, he also played on the Colorado State Rams football team. After completing college, he became a Golden Gloves boxing champion.
