The Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner has been ordered by a judge to pay $129,755 per month in child support to his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner. The pair shares three children together: sons Cayden and Hayes and daughter Grace.
Baumgartner who is a handbag designer initially asked for $248,000 a month in child support. In a court filing, she claimed that the figure “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle.”
In addition to this, Christine also requested the Let Him Go actor to pay 100% of private-school tuition, extracurricular activities/sports, and health-care expense for the pair’s three kids. At that time, Kevin stated that he couldn’t afford to pay the given amount due to his changing job situation.
When did Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner file for divorce?
Kevin and Christine headed in the direction of divorce earlier this year in May. The pair called it quits after 18 years of marriage. Then, the media outlet TMZ reported that Baumgartner filed for divorce from her famous husband on May 1, 2023.
In the court documents, Christine stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split. Around the same time, Kevin’s representative put out a statement to confirm that they were no longer together.
The statement read, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
On the other hand, Costner filed a response a day later, asking for the joint custody of the pair’s three kids. As per the divorce documents of the couple, they even had a prenup in place.
