It was recently revealed that Cena is going to have a cameo in the upcoming film, however, the details of his character and look were kept under wraps. Now it has been confirmed that the 46-year-old will be playing the role of Merman Ken or ‘Kenmaid’.

A behind-the-scenes video from the film was posted by iHollywoodTV on Tuesday, which gave the viewers the first look at John Cena’s character at the end. The wrestler appeared shirtless in the video as Kenmaid with long-blonde hair and sporting a blue shell necklace.
Talking about why he chose to be a part of the film, Cena revealed that he was impressed by the concept. “I was blown away with the concept. I think it’s going to be a movie that all audiences enjoy. I think it’s going to be a movie that evokes conversation. And I think it’s going to be beautifully visually appealing,” said the WWE star.
He added, “And I think ideas behind it – I think the audience will walk away with like a mixed bag of opinions, which I think is the greatest form of entertainment. When you don’t have just one universal feel about a project, it’s not that it’s bad, but I think that people can get into a fiery debate about something, that’s good. I like that versatility, I guess.”
The Wrestler is Playing One of the Kens in the Film
The film is going to feature several versions of Barbies and Kens, headlined by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Cena is playing the role of Undersea King Ken aka Kenmaid, an aquatic variant of Ken that has been a part of the doll lineup for several years now.
The actor will probably be seen opposite Dua Lipa, who is portraying Mermaid Barbie in the film. His role has been described as a cameo, so audiences will only be seeing him onscreen for a brief period. The rest of the Barbie cast includes Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Rhea Perlman, Will Ferrell, and Issa Rae.
