Michael Lewis is back in the limelight! For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, that the American writer is the one behind the life story of the popular movie The Blind Side which came out in the year 2009.
The sports drama film The Blind Side is based on the 2006 book of the same name by Michael Lewis. It narrates the story of Michael Oher, an American football offensive lineman who worked hard to play in the National Football League with the help of his adoptive parents, Sean and Leigh.
The film stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy, and Quinton Aaron as Oher. Now, Oher has claimed that he didn’t receive any money for the movie which surpassed $300 million at the box office.

Moneyball was Lewis’ first book to be adapted into a film. Soon after, The Blind Side was also made into a movie starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Lily Collins, Kathy Bates, and amongst many others. The film adaptation of The Big Short was released in 2015.
Michael Oher alleges that he was not paid for the film
As per the petition filed, Michael didn’t receive a single penny for the movie. On the other hand, when we talk about the Tuohy family, they earned millions from the Oscar-winning film.
While having a chat with the Daily Memphian, Sean revealed that the family “didn’t make any money off the movie” as well and claimed that Michael gave “half” of his “share”. He further added, “Well, Michael Lewis gave us half his share. Everybody in the family got an equal share, including Michael. It was about $14,000 each.”
Oher addressed the claims in the petition against the Tuohys. The statement read, “I am disheartened by the revelation shared in the lawsuit today. This is a difficult situation for my family and me. I want to ask everyone to please respect our privacy at this time. For now, I will let the lawsuit speak for itself and will offer no further comment.”
