Gregory Mecher was born in the year 1976 in southern Cincinnati, Ohio. Mecher spent his childhood in Ohio and attended Elder High School, an all-boys Catholic prep school in Cincinnati. He then completed his graduation from Northern Kentucky University, Mecher in communications and television production in the year 1999.
He started his career in politics when he was a student, serving as the “student representative to the Board of Regents”. He secured an internship with Kentucky Congressman Ken Lucas.

In 2006, Mecher first met with Psaki when the couple was working together with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He was working as chief of staff for Congressman Steve Driehaus of Ohio and also as chief of staff for Rep. Joe Kennedy III of Massachusetts.
Mecher fell in love with Psaki after she guided him in the wrong direction to a political event over the telephone. He excused her instantly as he found her very beautiful instead of getting upset over the mishap. After four years, he tied the knot with Psaki.
Mecher said, “Years later and being married to her, I can say this is definitely not one of my wife’s strong points, directions. By the time I got there, I was wondering who the heck this person was.”
