Statue of Unity, from India, is the tallest statue in the world which portrays Indian politician statesman and first home minister of independent India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This colossal statue is located in the state of Gujarat on a river island that is opposite the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadiya Colony in Narmada district.
The statue was inaugurated on the occasion of the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st October 2018 by the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
Sardar Patel has played a key role in uniting erstwhile 562 princely states of India ruled by kings and were part of the former British Raj to form the single Union of India. Statue of Unity was constructed by India’s largest infra company Larsen and Toubro at the cost of approximately $422 million and designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar.
2. Spring Temple Buddha: China

Laykyun Sekka ranks third in the list of the world’s tallest statues standing on a 13.5-meters throne. The statue which is golden in color is the grand structure of Gautama Budhha. It took almost 12 years to complete the construction of this statue which began in 1996.
Post completion of construction it was available for a public visit in the second month of 2008. Laykyun Sekka is located at Khatakan Taung, near Monywa in Myanmar where each element of this entire monument was detailed carefully.
4. Ushiku Daibutsu: Japan

Ushiku Daibutsu statue is the fourth tallest in the entire world that was constructed in the year 1993. This statue which is made up of Bronze represents Amitabha Buddha. Ushiku Daibutsu, the statue of Lord Buddha is positioned on a lotus platform.
To celebrate the birth anniversary of Shinran, founder of Jōdo Shinshū, the “True Pure Land School” of Buddhism, this statue was constructed.
Ushiku Daibutsu is located in Japan’s Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture. This statue is also referred to as Ushiku ARCADIA which is an abbreviation of Amida’s Radiance and Compassion Actually Developing and Illuminating Area.

The Qianshou Qianyan Guanyin is also called Guishan Guanyin of the Thousand Hands and Eyes. It depicts Avalokitesvara, the Buddhist bodhisattva who embodies compassion.

The great Buddha of Thailand statue is also referred to by the people as The Big Buddha. Big Buddha is the world’s seventh tallest statue, South East Asia’s second tallest, and Thailand’s tallest statue.
The first monk head of Wat Muang Temple, Phra Kru Vibul Arjarakhun has ordered to build this statue in the year 1990 and it was completed in the year 2018. Statue was constructed in order to commemorate the King Bhumibol of Thailand which cost approximately 104 million baht.

Phra Phuttha Mahanawamintra Sakayamunee Sri Visejchaicharn is the formal Sanskrit blended name of this statue which means “the Lord Buddha of Wiset Chai Chan, Built-in Honor of King Bhumibol”.
8. Dai Kannon of Kita no Miyako park: Japan

Dai Kannon of Kita no Miyako park is also known as the Hokkaido Kannon statue that ranks eighth in our list of the world’s tallest statues. It is Japan’s third tallest statue. It took almost 14 years for the construction of this statue which was started in the year 1975.

There are two hundred steps to reach the monument from the bottom of the hill which symbolizes the 200 days of the Battle of Stalingrad fought between Russia and Germany during the second world war.

Awaji Kannon which is also known as World Peace Giant Kannon is the tenth tallest statue in the world. Awaji Kannon is a giant statue located at Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It was earlier an abandoned building that had a museum and a temple in Awaji Island.
The statue is positioned on a five-story building. The statue is dedicated to Kannon, a Buddhist goddess known as Guanyin in Chinese. It is located in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The construction of this statue was started in the year 1977.
Recently just one year back the statue and the surrounding area became the property of the Japanese government and they have announced that by end of 2022 the statue will be demolished.
There is no proper infrastructure for common people to reach there and also in February 2020 someone committed suicide by jumping off from the observation deck. Due to these reasons, the Japanese government has decided to abandon this project.
