You can’t avoid the Kardashians these days. Everyone is talking about them. Since they’ve been so prominent in the public eye for so long, it’s hard to recall why they’re a prominent family in the first place. We take a look at how the Kardashians, the glamorous Armenian-American family, came to be where they are now.
How Are The Kardashian And Jenner Families Related?
We must study the origins of the Kardashian family by tracing their lineage back to Robert Kardashian. Originally from Los Angeles, Robert went to school at USC before attending law school at UC San Diego. In 1978, Robert Kardashian married Kris Jenner.
They were married for ten years and shared four children Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Robert. Several years before Brown Simpson’s murder and the iconic trial began, Robert and Kris divorced in 1991.
He and his family did not become famous due to Robert’s notoriety as a key figure in Simpson’s defence team. Robert was, however, quite wealthy as he belonged to the 1% club, which gave his children an edge in the world.
In September 2003, Robert died of esophageal cancer. He was 59 years old. The kids were in their late teens and early 20s by then, and Kris had remarried.
We are all aware that Kris remarried Bruce Jenner, former Olympian and Wheaties box star who is now known as Caitlyn Jenner.
Bruce brought his wealth to the marriage, but Kris is said to have received generous support from Robert. Kim and Bruce have two daughters of their own: Kendall, who was born on November 3, 1995, and Kylie, who was born on August 10, 1997.
Getting to Know Kim Kardashian
Kim knew even as a youngster that something extraordinary was in her future.
Paris Hilton, a budding TV star and socialite, became Kim Kardashian’s friend in 2003. They allegedly grew up together.
The Simple Life featured Kim alongside Hilton, albeit in off-to-the-side scenes. Despite being hard to believe, Kim was Paris’ assistant while offering her services as a closet organizer. Their feud was eventually settled, and Paris appeared in the Yeezy season 6 campaign and Kris’ Christmas Eve parties.
After helping their mom with retail ventures, Khloé, Kourtney, and Kim opened their store, DASH, in 2006. Despite not necessarily making them more prosperous, the store did help raise their profiles.
While Kris’ family was on television, she worked hard preparing the show. After she pitched a reality show about them, Ryan Seacrest agreed to produce a show about her brood. Keeping Up With the Kardashians commenced on October 14, 2007.
The same year, Kim made another kind of debut. No one could stop talking about her sex tape with Ray J; it was huge. Kim Kardashian’s name kept popping up everywhere. Her debut as a Dancing With the Stars contestant occurred in August of 2008. For the record, Kim didn’t become a reality star because of her rumba skills. About a month into the show, she was eliminated.
Making It Big On Keeping Up With the Kardashians
Three seasons into the show, Kris wonders if things have gotten a little stale until Kourtney gets pregnant. She believes this switch in a storyline helped cement interest in the show and maybe even saved it.
In addition to breaking the news of Kourtney’s pregnancy, the family also revealed who the father was during the season premiere. As time progressed, the births of North and Saint West and Kourtney’s kids, followed by Kim’s pregnancies, continued to excite and draw attention.
The Kardashians were named America’s “first family” by Cosmopolitan magazine in 2017. The ladies have created successful personal websites. Social media users follow them by the millions. It’s now the 11th season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and the show doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
