Elvis Filming Locations Explored In Detail
Now comes the exciting part. Elvis’ filming locations are well worth exploring. Principal photography began in Australia on January 28, 2020. Later, during the pandemic, production was actually halted.
On September 23, filming resumed. But, since we’re sure you’re interested, let’s go over the locations in greater detail.
Queensland, Australia
There’s no doubt that the movie was shot in Queensland, Australia, as it appears in a number of movies and television shows. The entire film was shot in Australia, as well as other locations in Australia.
By entire we actually mean entire. On-screen, there were multiple places featured but they actually recreated everything. Queensland is the second-largest and third-most-populous state in Australia, located in northeastern Australia.
Because of its size, Queensland has a wide variety of geological locations and climates, such as tropical rainforests, rivers, coral reefs, mountain ranges, and sandy beaches along its tropical and subtropical coasts, as well as deserts and savanna in its semi-arid and desert climatic regions.
Graceland
You’ll be glad to know that the production team put in a lot of time and effort to recreate Graceland. The team visited the real Memphis estate several times to make it perfect and flawless, to make it truly amazing for the viewers.
Martin, co-production designer as well as costume designer and producer on the movie explained it.
“Baz wanted Elvis’s kind of meteoric rise to fame and his rags to riches story to be echoed in the evolution of both the interior and the exterior.”
Adding, “We were lucky enough to be taken around [Graceland] by the head archivist, Angie, and she took us into the hall closet. There’s actually a bit of that blue paint extant in the closet, so we were able to take paint chips and match the color.”
He added, “It was really important to have a touchstone for the audience where they felt familiar with the interior.”
The Team Tried To Recreate Everything
Martin explained that they tried to recreate every little thing.
“We were able to reproduce everything from a light to a park bench and a trash can from photos. The things that were difficult to get in the quantities we wanted were period-appropriate shoes or large quantities of fabric—and, really, costumes in general.
There was a lot of manufacturing that we had to do in Australia. There were over 9,000 separate changes for the extras alone.” The filming locations in the movie also featured Village Roadshow Studios & Oxenford.
