Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third film in the Ant-Man franchise and the 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is hitting the theaters soon. The film will be extra special for Marvel fans as it will officially kick off phase 5 of the MCU and also introduce the next supervillain, Kang the Conqueror.
The superhero film will follow Ant-Man, Wasp, Hank Pym, Janet, and Cassie going on an adventure in the Quantum realm. The premise of the film demanded its filming at various locations around the world. Here is everything we know about the locations where Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was filmed.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Filming Locations
The film was shot in California, Georgia, England, and Turkey. The shooting commenced in Turkey in February 2021 and was wrapped up in November of the same year. Some additional portions were then filmed in 2022. Now let’s have a look at the places where the filming took place:
San Francisco, California
The first two films in the Ant-Man series were based in San Francisco, and hence most of the outdoor sequences were shot in real locations in the city. Ant-Man 3 has followed suit and recorded several scenes in San Francisco.
A few sequences from the film were shot at the San Francisco Police Department Central Station in North Beach in June 2021. Both the exterior and interior of the prison were utilized as the shoot location. Some portions were also shot in downtown San Francisco.
Turkey
A major portion of the film was shot in the Western Asian nation of Turkey, officially called The Republic of Türkiye. In February 2021, Mehmet Ersoy, the Minister of Culture and Tourism in the country, announced that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was being filmed in the Cappadocia region.
Some portions were also taped in other regions, including Nevşehir. Previously, a number of big projects have been shot in Turkey, including Taken 2, Hitman, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Ottoman Lieutenant, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Midnight Express, and Inferno.
Buckinghamshire, England
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be high on special effects, and to shoot the green-screen shots, the production crew utilized the Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. A virtual production technology called The Volume was used to film scenes involving VFX.
The technology, which was previously used in The Mandalorian and Thor: Love and Thunder, was provided by Industrial Light & Magic. Buckinghamshire is a county in South East England and is known for its scenic beauty and hills.
Earlier, films like Johnny English, Into the Woods, The Imitation Game, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Eyes Wide Shut, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies were also filmed in Buckinghamshire county.
Los Angeles, California
A few key scenes of the film were also shot in studios across Los Angeles. Being the home location for Hollywood, LA provides smooth production opportunities to the makers. In 2022, additional footage was recorded in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia.
