On October 5, 2022, Wednesday, Shay posted a TikTok which was all about the new Bisexual trend on the video-sharing service. She did a duet with TikTok user @keepitspooky while taking part in the trend which establishes one’s sexuality.
In the clip, the TikToker asks, “If you identify as a bisexual, do you own a green velvet couch?” Soon afterward, Mitchell lies down on her green couch without confirming whether she’s bisexual or not.
The fans thought Shay came out as bisexual and they flooded the comments section of the post with loads of messages. One user wrote, “Is this a coming out video? How did I not know this? Lots of love shay, my childhood crush.”
Followed by a user who penned, “Yes! It’s about damn time…welcome to the club.” A user went on to say, “Wait….does this mean our queen is bisexual? I’m screaming.”
What has Shay Mitchell said about her sexuality?
Shay’s new TikTok did not confirm that she’s bisexual but in the past, she has confessed that she has been attracted to women. Last year, while having a chat with her Pretty Little Liars co-star Ian Harding, she was asked when was the last time she got attracted to a woman.
At that time, Mitchell said, “Wow. Every day. For me, it’s never been ‘I need to find a boyfriend, I need to find this, I truly feel like I do fall in love with a person.”
In a 2017 interview with Maxim, Shay spilled the beans on her character in the show Pretty Little Liars. For those of you who are unaware, let us tell you, in the mystery drama series, Shay played the role of Emily Fields who was a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Then, Mitchell went on to say, “People always ask me, ‘You play a gay character? Are you gay? Are you straight? Are you this? Are you that? Look, Emily doesn’t label herself, and I don’t label myself either. I fall in love with the spirit of somebody. Love is love, and that’s something that I’ll keep saying.”

When we talk about the personal life of Shay, she has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Matte Babel since the year 2017. The pair shares two daughters. Shay gave birth to her and Matte’s first daughter in 2019. They named their first baby girl Atlas Noa.
Shay and Babel’s second daughter Rome joined them earthside in May 2022. Just like his baby mama Mitchell, Matte also hails from Canada. Babel is Chief Brand Officer at Dreamcrew, which is Drake’s management and entertainment group.
