Dominic Fike confirmed his breakup from Euphoria co-star Hunter Schafer in an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe which saw the light of day on Wednesday. He spilled the beans on his current relationship status and also spoke about his struggle with codependency.
The “3 Nights” singer told the media outlet, “I’m just done being in relationships right now.” He mentioned how he has seen love as needing someone. He stated that he needed some time alone to get out of the “loop.”
Fike confessed, “That has actually bled into my romantic relationships, that kind of dynamic. And it is often the cause of the end of my relationship.”
In addition to this, the 27-year-old musician also opened up about his past relationship with Hunter Schafer and put some light on the fun times they had together during their romance and how it made him realize that he couldn’t be alone.
Dominic said, “I could make music around her, which was crazy. I was looking through songs the other day and found one that I made with her. I was like, ‘Man, that was so cool.’ But the fact of me saying that — of being uncomfortable being alone — that’s a bad thing. So, I decided to just be alone for a while.”

During the interview, Fike was asked about getting back on the set of the HBO teen drama series Euphoria with his ex-girlfriend for season 3. The artist doesn’t think there will be any tension between them. He said, “I think it’ll be fine. We’re all adults kind of. I’m trying.”

Dominic and Hunter crossed paths for the first time in early 2021 on the set of Sam Levinson’s show Euphoria. They were first romantically linked to each other in January 2022 when they were seen holding hands during a dinner date in West Hollywood.
The pair made their romance Instagram official in February. At that time, Fike shared a picture of himself kissing Schafer on his Instagram Story. He didn’t publicly speak about his relationship with the model until May 2022.
During a May 2022 interview with GQ magazine, The Kiss of Venus musician revealed that he “was very much in love.” He shared how starring in the series Euphoria fast-tracked their romance.
Dominic said, “In those moments, your relationship is accelerated because you’re so vulnerable with someone, immediately. Which usually takes a long time. Some people fall in love, like, f–king months after they meet, or years after. We developed an attraction — it sped it up so fast. We just really got to know each other so quickly.”
