Mel B is all set to spice up season 2 of Queen of the Universe! The news of the former Spice Girls member joining the judging panel of the show Queen of the Universe was made by Paramount+ on Monday. Read on to know more about the forthcoming show.
Mel B to join ‘Queen of the Universe’ season 2 judging panel for Paramount+
Melanie Janine Brown popularly known as Mel B is all geared up to join the hit global singing competition for season 2 as a judge. She will be joining the panel of returning judges Grammy nominee Vanessa Williams, RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, and Drag Race All Stars winner Trixie Mattel.
Leona Lewis is the only judge who will not be making her return to the singing contest this year. So, Mel B will be taking the place of Leona in the show. Queen of the Universe will be hosted by Graham Norton.
In the past, Melanie has been a judge on many shows including America’s Got Talent. She served as a guest and main judge on the Australian and British versions of The X Factor between the years 2011 and 2016.
What is the show ‘Queen of the Universe’ all about?
For those of you who are unversed, let us tell you Queen of the Universe is a drag queen singing competition in which the world’s most talented drag queens compete against each other to win the title of the show and a cash prize of $250,000.
The series premiered on Paramount+ on December 2, 2021. It was renewed for a second season in February of 2022. The first season of the singing show was won by Brazilian competitor Grag Queen, and Ada Vox from the U.S. finished as the runner-up.
As of now, the premiere date for season 2 of Queen of the Universe has not been dropped by the network. Hopefully, we will get more information about the same in the upcoming weeks.
When did Mel B come into the spotlight?
Melanie rose to fame as one of the Spice Girls. She has spent more than 30 years establishing herself as a television entertainer, theater performer, author, and movie actor.
The girl group Spice Girls split in the year 2000. Soon afterward, Mel B aka Scary Spice released her debut solo album, Hot in the same year. Her second solo album, L.A. State of Mind saw the light of the day in 2005.
After a while, Brown went on to play the role of a judge and television presenter on various shows including stints on America’s Got Talent, The X Factor UK, Lip Sync UK, and Dancing With the Stars Australia.
To date Melanie has starred in many films such as Spice World (1997), LD 50 Lethal Dose (2003), The Seat Filler (2005), Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast  (2014), Chocolate City: Vegas Strip (2017), Killing Hasselhoff (2017) and Love Should Not Hurt (2021).
