Kim Woojin is a famous South Korean singer and erstwhile member of JYP Entertainment’s popular boy band Stray Kids. Kim is also referred to as just “Woojin”.

Kim Woojin: Here is all that you need to know
After parting ways from Stray Kids and signing 10x Entertainment, Kim made his comeback as a solo singer with his pre-debut digital single “Still Dream” on July 8, 2021.
It was then followed by his debut mini-album “The Moment : A Minor” and its lead single “Ready Now” which were out in August 2021.

Kim Woojin and his Early Life
Kim Woo Jin was born in the year 1997 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He completed his graduation from the School of Performing Arts in Seoul. He started his career in SM entertainment as a trainee along with other apprentices.
Kim Woojin’s Career
Woojin was just 20 years old when his band, Stray Kids delivered their big hit in 2017.
The Stray kids’ group took pride in introspective and self-produced songs. Stray Kids band is known for its eclectic mix of pop, hip hop, and electronica. All the band members came together as a result of a talent show.
Before the termination of his contract in 2019, Woojin expressed himself as composer and songwriter on various tracks.
Woojin left the group for personal reasons and did not provide any further explanation behind his exit that left his fans wondering about his future.
What is the Controversy surrounding Kim Woojin?
Things took a drastic turn in the life of Woojin who was all set to start his career as a solo singer in 2020.
Anonymous Twitter handle has posted a series of tweets in a thread that went viral on social media in a short span of time wherein the account user has accused Woojin of sexual misconduct.
It alleged that Woojin has met them in Seoul city in a bar and harassed them by inappropriately touching them without their consent. The posts were deleted by the user after some time.
Kim Woojin’s response to Controversy
Woojin has issued a formal statement on various social media platforms from his official ID that these are baseless allegations and tried to clear his name. However, with each passing day, the scandal was compounding exponentially.
There was another new anonymous account seen backing the accusations by the victim and Woojin has to go through the pain of the wrath of rumors for almost one year from his fans and non-fans.
Post this incident many of K-pop idols’ erstwhile fans took the anger on his merchandise and photos by burning/destroying them. His fans were disappointed and expressed their anger on various social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
His reputation was completely eroded and his much-awaited debut song was delayed. Woojin decided to remain silent and was staying away from the limelight till June 2021 when his own label 10x Entertainment released a powerful documentary titled “Finger Killer”.
The film was based on the false accusations of sexual harassment against Woojin and evidence was presented that proved the claims by the anonymous Twitter user are false.
Yoon Isaac, from 10X Entertainment in an interview shared, “Some photos that were used to try to incriminate Woojin were illegally obtained and even possibly doctored. There is the possibility that some fans may be spreading false rumors in an attempt to sully Woojin’s reputation after learning he had left Stray Kids.”
Woojin’s Life Ahead
Woojin is optimistic about his future and is focused on music. He confessed, “What I thought about the most more than what I’ve learned this past 10 months was that I wanted to play my music as soon as I could to my fans. I always am grateful for the CUBS [his fandom] for waiting for me, and I’m happy the day I can show you my music has finally come.”
While the majority of his fans and people from the music industry have the perception that his art is under the influence of past experiences, Woojin explains it’s not quite the case.
He said, “It does have bits of my personal experience in them. The album certainly has started with me, but I don’t think the whole story itself is about me. I wanted to talk about the stories any one of us can live at a certain point in life. So I wouldn’t say the album was influenced by my recent life experiences!”
Woojin released additional tracks like “Intro: Alea iacta est,” “In My Space,” “My Growing Pains,” and “Purple Sky”.
Woojin has made an audio journal that captures the emotions during his transitional phase from childhood to adulthood by focusing on the theme of youth and growing up.
It was not a sheer coincidence that Woojin has participated as a songwriter in all the tracks of his debut EP. Woojin is aspiring to take up newer roles in the near future so he has decided to build a strong foundation by understanding each and every concept of songwriting.
Woojin is awaiting an appropriate time and hopes that he will release a self-produced track for his fans. Until then he wants to be cautious and take one step at a time.
Woojin had a tough time in 2020 following the accusations against him and it was an eye-opener for him. His overall experience in handling this episode has helped shape his character. Now that his debut EP is released, Woojin is focused on his goal of being a well-rounded artist.
