Jane Seymour Fonda was born in the year 1937 in New York City. She studied at Greenwich Academy (Greenwich, Connecticut) and at the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York. She started her career as a model and made it to the cover page of Vogue Magazine twice.

The late 1950s theatre work of Fonda served as the starting point for her 1960s cinematic career. She made her debut as a professional actor in Cat Ballou (1965), in which she portrayed a schoolmistress-turned-outlaw.
