The Pokemon Company has rolled out a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet during today’s Pokemon Presents showcase. The new trailer unveiled the new Paldia region and a number of new Pokemon. Read on to know everything here and watch the trailer.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are among the most anticipated games for Nintendo Switch. Fans have been droolingly looking for announcements and leaks for the upcoming generation in the massively popular franchise.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were announced back in February while the first footage unveiling starters and legendaries dropped in June. Now, the Pokemon Company has shared another trailer revealing key details and mechanism changes in the upcoming games.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Get a New Trailer
The Pokemon Company has shared a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet during today’s Pokemon Presents showcase. The nearly 3 minutes long clip starts with several Pokemon running in beautiful fields and then the scene switches to reveal the Trainer School.

The trailer gives a first look at the new Pokemon and the new battle mechanic called Terastallizing. It also shows players traversing the diverse Paldea region on legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon.
The clip also confirms the open-world concept that the upcoming games will retain from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, the Gyms will be returning for good. There are also returning Pokemon including the fan-favorite Pikachu, with a special form this time!
Players Can Explore Paldea Region on Legendaries
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be set in the “Paldea” region which features a fine mixture of different types of ecosystems. There are mountains, fields, valleys, deserts, swamps, cities, and everything that you’d like to explore in a Pokemon region.
The Paldea region also boasts a balance of ancient culture and futuristic innovation. There are mythical structures standing tall alongside modern buildings. Players will be able to explore the stunning surroundings in the open-world concept for the first time ever.
Players will be able to travel through the Paldea region riding Koraidon and Miraidon. The legendary ‘mons are able to cross all sorts of terrain. They can swim, glide, surf, and take you through any structure.
Story Revolves Around a Treasure Hunt Starting from Trainers School
The trailer also shows off glimpses of the storyline. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature co-op multiplayer for up to four players. The players are seen in the “Training School” where the instructor is giving some instructions to the rookie trainers.
The trainers then embark on a “Treasure Hunt,” which will likely serve as one of the main storylines. There are Gyms and Gym Leaders in your journey and you have to defeat them to obtain badges, like in regular Pokemon games.
However, for the first time ever, you can approach the Gyms in any order as the games are set in an open world.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Trailer Reveals New Pokemon
The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer also unveiled a handful of new Pokemon joining the cool roster. The first one is a cute little Fairy-type bagel dog called Fidough.
Next up is a large Ice-type whale called Cetitan, and the third one is Paldean Wooper. The Paldean Wopper is a fresh variation of the Pokemon introduced in the Johto region with Gold & Silver.
These Pokemon join the list of new Pokemon coming with Scarlet & Violet including Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Smoliv, Lechonk, Koraidonm, and Miraidon alongside familiar faces.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will have “Terastallizing”
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will have a new battle mechanic called “Terastallizing.” It seems pretty similar to Mega Evolution and Sword & Shield’s Dynamaxing. The new battle gimmick allows your Pokemon to under a temporary transformation during battles.
Your Pokemon will transform into a crystalized form with a jewel-like body called the “Tera type.” Each Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet will have a Tera-type form. Most Pokemon’s Tera types will match their standard ones while some will have a different type.
There are also Terastal Raid Battles in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The games will allow up to four players to battle might Terastal Pokemon in a group.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Release Date: When is it coming?
Nintendo has previously confirmed the release date for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The ninth generation games in the much loved Pokemon game series will launch on November 18, 2022, on Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pre-Orders Live: Get a Bonus Tera Pikachu
Pre-orders for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are live and fans can book their copies at the Nintendo eShop. The latest trailer has also confirmed a pre-order bonus for fans buying Pokemon Scarlet & Violet before February 28, 2023.
Fans purchasing the game before the given date will be eligible to get a Special Pikachu that can’t be obtained through regular gameplay. This Pikachu knows the move “Fly” and has a Flying-type Tera form.
