Did ‘The Simpsons’ predict the missing Titanic submarine accident?
The fans are pretty much convinced that the popular American sitcom The Simpsons may have predicted another real-life event. The Titanic OceanGate submarine went missing in the Atlantic Ocean on June 18, 2023, Sunday.
The media outlet BBC News previously reported that the submarine got lost somewhat around an hour and 45 minutes into its dive. As of this moment, the search and rescue operations are still underway.
The submarine has 5 passengers onboard and they are as follows: British adventurer Hamish Harding, French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son Suleman and Stockton Rush, CEO and founder of OceanGate.
During the eight-day trip operated by OceanGate Expeditions, the passengers were traveling to see the wreckage of the RMS Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. They were about 900 miles east of Cape Cod.
Some fans of the famous show The Simpsons have noticed eerie similarities between the storyline from the 17th season of the Fox cartoon which aired in the year 2006. In episode 10 of that season of the show, family patriarch Homer Simpson goes on an adventure to find his biological father, when he lands on the doorstep of Mason Fairbanks.
Then, Homer pretends to be a reporter but he quickly figures out that Fairbanks is his father. Then, the father-son duo decided to explore the depths of the ocean in individual submarines to find treasure.
The two of them end up getting separated. Homer gets stuck in some coral and he starts to lose consciousness as the oxygen runs low in the submarine, meanwhile, his dad wakes up 3 days later in a hospital and makes it out alive.
