The Academy Awards, known popularly as Oscars, are the dream of every artist from the film fraternity. Not only do artists wait eagerly for this moment every year but also fans, media, and all other stakeholders wait to experience the moment.
The countdown has already begun for the most glamorous night in Hollywood which is just around the corner.
As the event is all set to take place this weekend, on March 27th, the film industry is looking forward eagerly to returning to the red carpet. The award ceremony will honor the best, most talented, and most brilliant film creators in the world.
Ahead of the big event, the most important thing everyone will be looking forward to is the glittering stage setup. Read on as we share the same with you.
Oscars 2022 stage embellished with 90,000 Swarovski crystals
The Crystal-Covered stage is the talk of the town and making buzz on social media this year as there are more than 5,000 linear feet of LED tape on the set, which implies approximately 120,000 pixels of LED just on the tape alone.
The artful shell of flat orbs and moving pieces that are embedded with 90,000 Swarovski crystals will make Oscar’s night even more glittering.
David Korins, scenic designer and creative director of the 2022 Academy Awards, said, “Film tends to lead the conversation in art and culture. This show tends to be where people look to really understand where we have been, where we are in this moment, and where we’re headed. The thing about the Academy Awards is you have to meet an audience where they are.”
He added, “We have all gone through this indelible, insane, upside down, crazy experience. And we continue to be inside of this extreme turmoil. I feel like this show feels even more poignant and more people are laser-focused on what the ultimate message is going to be for the evening.”
Theme of Oscars 2022
President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, David Rubin made the announcement that “Movie Lovers Unite” will be the theme of this year’s Academy Awards.
The team is also planning to do more interactive and equitable awards show like social media engagement using the hashtags #OscarsFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment with the assistance of producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan.
Korins further elaborated saying, “I’m trying with the design to actually make something that feels complex and yet spare and kind of glowing and hopeful. Let’s cast a big, huge beacon of hope on this powerful moment that we all get to experience, and let’s find that light, and then let’s supersize it.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) presents the Oscars every year. The first-ever Academy Awards was held more than 93 years ago on 16th May 1929 at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel attended by 270 people.
The 94th Annual Academy Awards will be held on 27th March 2022 in a grand event organized at the Dolby Theatre after a lukewarm ceremony held last year with social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols.
