Now, American singer Ray J has revealed that the controversial 2007 sex tape was released by Kim and her mother Kris to gain stardom. Read on to know more about Ray J’s new interview.
Did Kris Jenner Negotiate the Sex Tape Deal?
The Love & Hip Hop Hollywood alum, Ray J whose sex tape with Kim Kardashian still echoes in Hollywood even after 14 years, has revealed the conspiracy in a recent interview with “Daily Mail”.
Ray J took this step after the Kardashian-Jenner family’s new Hulu series portray him as a villain. A few days back, Kim K. was tearful about the fact that it was Kanye who got her second sex tape back, now Ray J spoke about the mother-daughter conspiracy to release the 2007 sex tape in the name of fame.
Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., said, “I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”
Ray J dated Kim Kardashian from 2003 to 2006 and said that he once jokingly suggested they release the sex tape. He added, “That’s how it all came about. Once I pitched the idea to her, just playing around a little bit, that’s when she jumped on the idea, talked to her mom and it was out of my hands from there.”
Ray J revealed that the deal for selling the sex tape was organized by Kim and Kris Jenner. If you remember, the sex tape titled “Kim Kardashian, Superstar”, which featured footage of herself and Ray J filmed in Cabo San Lucas in 2002 was released in 2007 by Vivid Entertainment.
The company gave the narrative that it bought the sex tape for $1 million from an unidentified third party. Even Kardashian said that the video was sold without her permission or consent.
Now, sources have revealed that Kris Jenner never negotiated with Vivid Entertainment, which distributed the tape back in 2007. It was Kim and Ray J who dealt with Vivid directly and with their lawyers. But that doesn’t mean he is lying because it was Kris and Kim who hatched the plot.
Paris Hilton served as an Inspiration
Ray J gave detailed accounts of the events that took place 14 years back. Ray said that he is done keeping quiet. He has no shame in accepting what truly happened. He said, “I have been walking on eggshells, worried that I’d get in trouble for telling the truth, but I am done being silent. “I’ve been holding onto it for the past 14 years and watching them humiliate me. They’re celebrating my destruction.”
Ray J revealed that the original idea came up after the success of Paris Hilton’s sex tape and it was Kim who brought Jenner on board to broker the deal with Vivid Entertainment. She negotiated the release of three tapes: sex videos made in Mexico, Santa Barbara and Cabo San Lucas.
The Celebrity Big Brother contestant also said that the SKIMS founder pulled the Cabo sex tape from a “Nike shoebox under her bed” for distribution. He confirmed that he never had a single tape at his house.
Ray J urged people to hear his side of the story, since it has completely changed his life, not necessarily for the better. Ray also revealed that he felt suicidal at a point in time. He said, “I felt suicidal because when you know something’s real and it’s true and you’re watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they’ve created…”
“It’s heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft.” There are screenshots of alleged Instagram direct messages between himself and Kim wherein Ray J said he has “been nothing but a team player”. He stated that there was an agreement, but he couldn’t support the way The Kardashians were handling the new sex tape story.
The Recent Controversy
Last month, a spoiler alert for the premiere episode of “The Kardashians” was released wherein the 41-year-old entrepreneur tells her attorney Marty Singer in an old conversation that:
“OVER MY DEAD BODY IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. I KNOW THE RIGHT ATTORNEYS THIS TIME AND I’M NOT GOING TO LET THIS HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN. I HAVE ALL THE TIME, ALL THE MONEY AND ALL OF THE RESOURCES TO BURN THEM ALL TO THE F–KING GROUND.”
Ray J’s former manager Walk 100 previously alleged the SKIMS founder in a podcast back in 2021 that he owns more graphic footage of Kim K. and Ray J. He later changed his statement by saying that she was lying about a second sex tape.
Another episode of the new Hulu series showed Kim Kardashian panicking about a potential new release after one of her children saw an ad on Roblox supposedly advertising unseen clips. However, Kim was recently seen bursting out in tears and praising Kanye for bringing her the alleged sex tape.
Figuring Out the Truth
If you think carefully, sex tapes have always been a tool for the Kardashians to ensure their success. It doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone about what Ray J narrated. The Kardashians have built an empire based on lies and drama that sells.
Guess what? This is more than a personal opinion. Several reliable sources, including a Forbes study, revealed in the year 2017 Kim banked $45.5 million the past year from a brand she built on self-aggrandizement, shameless product peddling and nude selfies.
Not just this, their show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” offered viewers little more than a voyeuristic lens into the personal lives of these celebrities. It quickly became the “mother ship for all their products and platform through which Kris and her five daughters ushered in the era of the reality celebrity as a brand.”
You can deduce that a sex tape led to a billion-dollar brand. Ray J’s confession cannot be denied in-toto or be shaded by the glamour of these famous celebrities who now rule the world with their extravagant lifestyle.
