The Nickelodeon star can finally take a sigh of relief. The Ventura County Superior Court Judge has ruled to end the conservatorship of Amanda Bynes. The 35-year-old American actress filed a petition for termination of her conservatorship last month. Now, she is a free woman.
About Amanda’s mental health
Amanda Bynes received immense fame one could ever dream of. However, her addiction to extreme substance abuse put her under continuous trouble. In 2012, Amanda was charged with driving under the influence in West Hollywood. She was accused of clipping the deputy sheriff’s cruiser in the said place. However, she received three-year probation after charges were dropped.
In May 2013, Bynes was again charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession in Manhattan. This case too was dismissed. Things took a bitter turn when she started a small fire in the driveway of a stranger in Thousand Oaks. Her parents finally filed for conservatorship after her hospitalization.
Shockingly, she alleged her father of emotional and sexual abuse that never happened. She was mentally unstable and later tweeted Bynes tweeted that “The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me”. Her parents proved their innocence and stand by her side to date.
In the year 2018, Bynes confessed that she has been sober for four years with the help of her parents. She also took to Twitter to apologise for all the lost years. She previously tweeted  “I’m really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can’t turn back time but if I could, I would. And I’m so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me.”
What is Conservatorship?
Under U.S. law, conservatorship allows the appointment of a guardian or a protector by a judge to manage the daily affairs including financial affairs of a person due to old age or mental disability. In Amanda’s case, her mother became a “Conservatee”.
Amanda Bynes has served a conservatorship for nine years now. It has finally come to an end following the legal paperwork. Bynes believes that her condition is improved and no longer needs court’s protection.
A capacity declaration was also submitted in which psychiatrist Kimberly M. Brown gave an undertaking stating that Bynes has “no apparent impairment in alertness and attention, information and processing, or ability to modulate mood and affect, and suffers no thought disorders.”
Amanda’s court date is scheduled after two weeks. She finally broke her silence after nine years of medical treatment thanking her fans and supporters who helped her get through the troubled time. She created a new Instagram account and posted a 12-seconds video.
Amanda’s Nickelodeon co-stars and followers have reflected support for Amanda and have welcomed the court decision. Well, now she can make her own decisions and maybe return to her acting career. Everyone deserves a new life, isn’t it? What do you think about this judgement?
