5 Quick Ways to Get Chocolate Out of Clothes

Imagine enjoying your favorite chocolate after a good dinner, and suddenly it spills on your new dress!

This situation can spoil your mood. Chocolate stains do not go away so easily and are hard to remove. It is because chocolate contains tannins and oils that may stain your clothing and other fabrics. It is essential to take immediate action to do away with the stains.

We are here to help you out.

How to Remove Chocolate Stains from Clothes?

You can dry the below-listed step-by-step method to remove chocolate from your clothes.

1. Get Rid of Excess Chocolate

First things first! When you see chocolate spill on your clothes, act quickly to remove excess chocolate. You may dab tissue paper on the chocolate stain to remove it. Remember not to rub the tissue paper, only dab it so that it doesn’t spread to other areas of your clothes.

Alternatively, you can use a butter knife or spoon to eliminate solid bits of chocolate from the fabric. Do not use anything sharp that could cut or damage the clothes.

If the chocolate is already dried and hardened, it becomes tricky to peel away without damaging the fibers. Thus, be careful not to peel or scrape away chocolate that has dried too much.

2. Give a Cold Water Rinse

Giving a cold water rinse to the chocolate helps you eliminate the stain faster than ever. Rinse the back of the stained area to allow the spot to travel back through the least amount of fabric possible. Do not use warm water to do this step.

3. Treat the Spot with Laundry Detergent

Once you have given a cold water rinse, use laundry detergent to treat the spot, and rub a heavy-duty liquid detergent on the stain. Do not worry if you don’t have a liquid detergent. You can use soap to do it instead.

Allow the clothing to sit for five minutes. Afterward, soak it for 15 minutes in cold water. Rub the stained area between your fingers and thumb to loosen the stain and rinse it thoroughly. Continue the process until you see the stain going away.

4. Use a Stain Remover for Stubborn Stain

If the chocolate stain is too stubborn to be removed by the previous step, let the stain remover come to your rescue. Apply a stain remover gel or spray and treat both sides of the stain. This step will make the product penetrate fully. Wash clothing in the washing machine and air dry.

Putting the garment in the drier only after the stain is fully removed for high heat may set the stain permanently.

5. Alternate Remedy

You can also work on an alternate remedy to remove chocolate stains from your clothing. Dip the spot into a solution of vinegar and water. Let it sit for ten minutes. Afterward, use your regular detergent to do away with the stain. Use only white vinegar for this hack, as others may affect the color of your garment.

We hope the above-listed remedies come to your rescue when removing chocolate stains from your clothes. The next time you enjoy eating chocolate, be careful.
