Snapchat is one of the most used social media platforms currently. The app is used by millions of users, who particularly like to stay connected with their friends by maintaining photo streaks. However, the platform seems to be having some trouble for the past few hours as many users have reported that they are not able to access the app.
Particularly, Android users have pointed out that they are getting the message ‘not compatible with your device’ error while trying to use the app. So what exactly is the error and how can you fix it? Read on to find out.
Snapchat ‘Your Device Is Not Compatible’ Issue Emerges on Android Devices
The issue came to light on Wednesday evening when a number of Snapchat users reported that they were not able to use the app as it showed the message ‘Your device isn’t compatible with this version.’
Many users then tried to install and reinstall the app, but the problem continued. The issue is said to have affected Android users only, as Samsung and OnePlus users have mostly pointed out the error on social media.

On the other hand, no such issue has been reported by iOS users. A few Android users were also left wondering if the app had been discontinued from the operating system and was only available for iPhone users now.
How to Fix the ‘Not Compatible’ Issue on Snapchat
The error seems to be at the backend, so there is not much you can do about it. The ‘not compatible’ message is reportedly due to a bug that has resulted in the glitch, so users need not worry as their devices have nothing to do with it. Snapchat has not addressed the issue directly but has revealed that they are working on resolving it.
When a user reported the error to Snapchat’s support team on Twitter, the account replied, “Hi there! Thanks for letting us know, we’re looking into this!” Another tweet related to the issue by the account read, “Hi! Let’s see how we can help. Send us a DM with some details on what’s happening and we’ll take it from there.”
Meanwhile, if your phone’s Android version is outdated, make sure to update the operating system so that the device is compatible with the app at least from your end. Many users have also tried restarting their devices to get rid of the ‘not compatible issue’, but have not been able to fix it that way.
