Snapchat introduced its My AI chatbot to the world in February this year. The assistant, powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, offers an AI experience within the app and gives out answers to any queries by the user.
After launching the feature to its paid Snapchat+ subscribers and testing it for two months, the company has now rolled out My AI for free users as well. All of the 750 million users on Snapchat can now use the feature and also customize it to their own taste.
The announcement was made at Snapchat’s annual Partner Summit recently. If you are wondering how you can use My AI on the social media platform, read on to find out.
How to Get My AI on Snapchat?
As already stated, My AI has now been rolled out to all Snapchat users. To access the feature, update the app to the latest version. Then follow the below steps:
- My AI will be enabled by default and greet you with a message when you open Snapchat.
- To chat with the assistant, open the Chat tab by swiping right on the Camera roll.
- The assistant can be found pinned under the Chat tab.
- Select My AI and enter your query in the chat box.
- You can also customize the avatar and give a nickname to the bot by going to Friendship Profile with My AI.
If you wish to delete your chat with My AI, use the following steps:
- Go to the Chat tab.
- Select and hold My AI.
- Select Chat Settings.
- Select Clear from Chat Feed.
My AI can Help You Out with a Number of Things
In its official press release, Snapchat has revealed which tasks can be performed by My AI. “In a chat conversation, My AI can answer a burning trivia question, offer advice on the perfect gift for your BFF’s birthday, help plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, or suggest what to make for dinner.”
“My AI is an experimental, friendly, chatbot currently available to Snapchatters. My AI is there to help and to connect you more deeply to the people and things you care about most,” the press release reads.
Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel also talked about the AI tool and revealed over 2 million conversations are already taking place with My AI every day. “Just based on the way that they work, I think they’re much more suited to creative tasks,” Spiegel said.
“And some of the things that make them so creative are also the things that make them not so great at recalling specific information,” he continued, adding that Snapchat shares a close partnership with OpenAI.
Users Impressed with My AI
Snapchat users are impressed by the chatbot and are appreciating it on social media. “This AI on Snapchat going to turn into my bestfriend lol it’s pretty dope and very intelligent!” wrote a user, while another tweeted, “i got the new snapchat AI bot and i made him look like eddie is this about to be my new friend.”
While some users did not find the feature useful. “Hello Snapchat. Could you please remove the AI you added onto my account? I don’t want it nor do I like it. Thank you,” penned a user. “I’m really bouta delete my Snapchat cause it’s a hard no to this AI thing…I’ve seen I, robot,” wrote another.
