Twitter has been introducing a host of new features and guidelines ever since Elon Musk took over the microblogging platform in October last year. The social media giant has now rolled out the Bookmark count feature, a statistic to show the number of times a tweet has been bookmarked.
The new feature was introduced on Thursday and has already divided social media users. While some have appreciated Bookmark count, others think that it has made the analytics too cluttered on the app. Read on to know how you can view the option on Twitter.
Twitter Introduces ‘Bookmark Count’ Feature
The bookmark feature was already available on the platform since 2018 and is used to revisit a tweet in the future. The Bookmark count stats will now show you how many times your tweet has been bookmarked by different users on Twitter.
“We love Bookmarks for saving Tweets to revisit later. Starting today on iOS, you’ll now see the total number of times a Tweet has been bookmarked on Tweet details,” Twitter’s official handle posted on March 17.

The Bookmark count will appear along with the likes count, retweets, quoted tweets, and views. However, unlike other analytics, the Bookmark count will remain anonymous, so you will not be able to find out who has bookmarked your tweets.
Only the number of bookmarks will be made accessible to the user. “Don’t worry, though– your Bookmarks are still private. We’ll never display which accounts have added a Tweet to their Bookmarks,” Twitter wrote.
How to View the Bookmark Count of a Tweet?
To check out the Bookmark count of a particular tweet, follow the below steps:
- Select any tweet of your choice to view the Bookmark count.
- Tap on View Tweet Activity by selecting the analytics icon at the bottom.
- The page will now show the engagement of the tweet, along with the number of times it has been bookmarked.
The count is currently available to iOS users only. However, the feature is expected to be rolled out to web and Android users as well. Musk first announced the feature in January this year.
Yes, that will be added in an upcoming release. Also, if your tweet is bookmarked, it will be treated as a “quiet like” and increment your likes counter.

When a user asked if he could see the number of times his tweet has been bookmarked, the CEO replied, “Yes, that will be added in an upcoming release. Also, if your tweet is bookmarked, it will be treated as a “quiet like” and increment your likes counter.”
The Feature has Received Mixed Reactions from Twitter Users
Bookmark count is beneficial for those who want to check how engaging their tweet is. It can particularly be used by organizations and creators to see if their post was somewhat useful for their followers.
On the other hand, some users are disappointed with the feature stating that it is pointless to add another statistic to an already cluttered analytics space on a tweet. Some women have also come forward to share that they were disturbed to see how many times their photos had been bookmarked on the platform.
“Twitter bookmark discourse. I still am not understanding,” wrote a user, while another posted, “I saw somebody post pictures of they daughter nd it had 200 bookmarks. Yea you’ll never catch me over sharing on dis app.”
