TikTok has finally rolled out Pulse after unveiling the program earlier this year. The new program allows creators with “very high engagement” rates to earn up to 50% of the ad revenue by keeping Pulse ads adjacent to their videos. Here’s everything you must know.
When TikTok’s first revenue-sharing program was announced back in May 2022, no definitive release date or timeline was given for its launch. However, TikTok has officially rolled it out now and confirmed the news with a press release.
Twitter has been buzzing with users discussing TikTok’s new program that’ll let big creators earn big amounts of money just by placing Pulse ads with their videos.
TikTok Pulse Program: What is it?
TikTok Pulse is a new monetization program for creators which allows them to place ads alongside their content and earn directly from the ad revenue. This new program is only available to creators of the top 4% of “most engaging” videos across several categories.
These categories include beauty, fashion, cooking, gaming, and, book. More categories or niches can be added later but TikTok hasn’t made any promises for now. This program is TikTok’s first revenue-sharing program. It was originally announced back in May.
However, TikTok didn’t share a specific release date. It is now rolling out globally as creators with more than 100,000 followers are receiving notifications to join TikTok Pulse and earn money displaying ads.
How does TikTok Pulse work?
TikTok Pulse is the first revenue-sharing tool or feature on the platforms. It is designed to reward creators for their profitable engagement while brands can bring more eyes toward them by advertising under the program.
With TikTok Pulse, creators can place special contextual advertisements alongside their videos. When the viewers watch the video integrated with Pulse ads, they’ll also see the advertisements. This will shorten the gap between ads and regular content on TikTok.
Contextuality of the ads is the key reason why TikTok has currently included only twelve popular categories in the Pulse program. Brands coming from these niches can generate high revenues with proper strategies and implementation.
If the reports are to be believed, creators will earn a 50/50 share of all the revenue while TikTok will also likely keep something in the name of a “processing fee.” This isn’t confirmed yet and we’ve already tried reaching TikTok for their comments.
You can understand TikTok Pulse as a competitor to the YouTube Partner program. However, it’s more related to YouTube Select as both programs allow the platforms to work with only a limited number of creators to protect brand reputation.
How to Join TikTok Pulse as a Creator?
TikTok creators who are eligible for the new Pulse program can now join it by tapping on the notification that appears inside the app. If you believe you meet the conditions required for TikTok Pulse, you can join it without any hassle.
Make sure you are using the latest version of the TikTok app on your Android or iOS device. After that, launch the app and you will receive a notification explaining “TikTok Pulse.” Just tap on it and follow the on-screen prompts to join the program.
However, if you haven’t received the notification yet, wait for some time. Go through the requirements to join TikTok Pulse available below thoroughly. If you still believe you are eligible, you can write to TikTok support explaining your situation.
You can find TikTok support in the app or via email. The team is a bit slow to respond these days though. You might have to wait patiently in this case.
Requirements to Join TikTok Pulse Program
TikTok Pulse is specifically created to allow big creators to earn ad revenue for their impressive content that has a high engagement rate. So, TikTok has outlined the following creators to join the Pulse program:
- You must follow all Community Guidelines strictly.
- Your TikTok account must have at least 100k followers.
- You should have posted at least 5 videos in the last 30 days.
- You must be at least 18 years or older.
This is the base criteria to qualify for TikTok Pulse. In addition to that, your TikTok profile must be very active, and engaging, and your content must stand out among its category before TikTok decides that you are eligible for the program.
These are some unwritten rules for about the program. Some rumors claim that you need a blue tick on TikTok and a big presence on other social media platforms in order to be eligible. However, we don’t find them true.
The program is created for the top 4% of the creators who provide the most engaging content on TikTok. The blue tick could be complementary here and not essential. The same goes for a creator’s presence on other platforms.
Is TikTok Pulse available for everyone yet?
After months of waiting, TikTok has finally rolled out Pulse for everyone. The program is available to creators on TikTok globally now. Initially, the creators from the United States joined it as invitations are being rolled out gradually.
The program is reportedly unavailable in Canada temporarily according to reports from Twitter.
Just got the confirmation that Tiktok Pulse will not be available in Canada for the moment. It's going to be starting in the US first and then it will open up to other countries.
I will update if I hear something about Canada.

If you haven’t received the notification yet but find yourself absolutely eligible for the program, just wait for your turn. There is nothing else you have to do.
However, if you are just ineligible, you can still monetize your content on TikTok. You can collaborate with brands, local as well as dynamic, and do promotions to make money. Another option would be to grow your YouTube account as well.
YouTube is always known for being the most creator-friendly platform on the web due to its Partner program. With Pulse, TikTok is officially competing with YouTube for the tag. However, it’ll still need a few more tools as smaller creators wouldn’t benefit much from the news introduction.
